About me

So then why has a technophobe like me started a blog ?  Well it’s not something I could ever have imagined doing…… but then life happened and as the saying goes ‘life is what happens while you’re busy making other plans’.

Here’s a poem by way of explanation

Good Days and Bad Days

On the good days my body smiles with me,

Little achievements others take for granted,

A meal out with friends,

A walk with the family,

Laughing with those I love,

Living with illness lurking inside me

On the bad days my body fights against me,

Pain, anger, despair threaten to overwhelm me,

Why me? Why now?

Tears come easy,

Lashing out at those I love,

Attacked by my own immunity

Writing has always been an enjoyable pastime of mine and languages have always fascinated me but now it’s become a key part of me coming to terms with the life I didn’t plan

….Oh and if you enjoy what you read keep your eye out-my work is regularly published, both in print and online, in anthologies and  journals such as Every Day Poets, Failed Haiku, Prune Juice,  Hedgerow, Shamrock (Irish Haiku Society), Lynx (AHA Poetry), A Hundred Gourds, Heron’s Nest, Frogpond and Blithe Spirit (British Haiku Society)

  1. Reading this post gave me much to consider. As a nature and landscape photographer for many years, I have recently been drawn to haiku as another way of ‘showing’ my nature experiences. At 77 now, I am starting to realize where real and worthwhile beauty and truth lies…in the enjoyment of the natural world and in solitude therein. Thanks for this reminder!

  2. I’m sorry about your ongoing health problems. It’s a difficult place to be in. I have chronic pain and a number of health problems, I also care for 2 sick people and it’s often difficult to keep going, but writing, whether is very helpful and I find that haiku in particular helps me capture those special moments that make life sweet.
    Best wishes.

  3. I can certainly empathise with you here. Illness has completely wrecked my life, but writing and blogging help me make sense of things sometimes. My head doc told me to try it and I unearthed a side of myself I didn’t know existed.
Good days are scarce, bad days hold sway, frustration and anger boil over sometimes.
You are not ALONE! I once thought I was, but I was mistaken.
    Hang in there!
